INTER UNIVERSITY DANCE COMPETITION (IUDC)

The Inter-University Dance Competition (IUDC) is a dance project on its fetal stage with the aim of promoting dance talent among university students across the country.

It is a project idea that was conceived by university students that have mastered the dance industry in the country and find the urge to have a platform uniquely for students.

United States International University is a prestigious university that supports the idea which has been developed by its own students. This project is an opportunity whereby students from different institutions
will be brought to a common venue to showcase their dance skills and compete with one another.

The event shall take place at the USIU Auditorium on the 3rd of Tuesday December from 6pm till 9pm.

The aim is not to compete and win, rather, to explore unique dance skills and learn from one another, representing the country in on its own unique arena.

ZIADA NAIROBI: GRACE,LOVE & FELLOWSHIP

ZiAda, will be hosting a worship experience on the 14th of December, calling Kenyato unite in Grace, Love and Fellowship, in this year of Jubilee. The event, ZiAdaNairobi, will happen from 3pm at Parklands Baptist Church – Main sanctuary –and entry is free.

The event will also see the stage graced by like-minded artists, namely: songstress Kambua [ @Kambua], gracious singer Eunice Njeri [ @eunicenjeri11], and Bethu and Highest Praises Band [ @bethuandHPB].

The theme of grace, love and fellowship, runs through various aspects of the event: it is a culmination of the journey that of growth of the group, as individuals, individual entities and as one body. This is not an experience exclusive to ZiAda but a relatable story/stories to all, hence will be presenting real and relevant needs and praises to God.

The theme (Grace, Love, Fellowship) will further be exemplified by interaction with an identified children’s home with whom the team, and all others shall give towards meeting their need, for material basics, and at the same time having them be part of the worship experience.

This year’s Nairobi event comes after a successful mission in Nakuru (ZiAda Nakuru) on the weekend of 18th to 20th October.

BACKGROUND:

ZiAda, was initially coined from the combination of Zidi the Band and Adawnage,but has since grown into a ministry primarily comprised of 3 entities: the two bands and Number8, the Spoken Word poet.

Ziada: a swahili word which means ‘increase’ or ‘abundance’. Driven by the heart of John 10:10(b): “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly”. 

Once you taste this life, which is the Word, you will be compelled to share the good news with every one. ZiAda is a therefore a ministry which seeks to take the Word to the World and this is primarily through music and spoken word.

Whereas the three entities have come together for these missions, they still retain their individual identities and every so often hold events in their individual capacities. ZiAda has so far done various events as a single entity but has so far had four main gigs which they have put together: ZiAda Mombasa (1st to 3rd June, 2012) and ZiAda Nyeri (25th to 26th August, 2012), ZiAda Nairobi (12th December, 2012) and very

recently, ZiAda Nakuru (18th to 20th October, 2013) that each saw the group holding various events in these towns.

Entry to all the ZiAda events held so far has been free.They are funded through partnerships with corporates, churches and from resources of the individuals in the group. This, the group believes, will further push the agenda of making the Word as accessible as possible.

Telecommunication firm Orange and Nation Media Group stepped in as key sponsors of the event last year. Other sponsors included Coca Cola, Parklands Baptist Church, RiqRig, Swizznet Entertainment and Emerald Events.

ZiAda Nairobi is the climax, for the year. The ministry continues with plans to have more ZiAda experiences in the coming years.

GOSPEL KARAOKE FUN DAY

The last month of 2013 is here, and this time round, Emerald Events Management Limited brings Christmas to you early by celebrating the birth of Jesus in style. The theme of this event is Christ is Born.

All round gospel music has always been the focus but this time round, they break it down to an afternoon of nothing but Christmas carols karaoke. All contestants taking the stage will be required to pick a Christmas carol of their choice from the song list and attempt to sing it.

They  will also have plays and skits by Galaxy Players and live music from amazing live bands in Nairobi. There will be a lot of fun for kids too, with a bouncing castle and face painting, so DO NOT leave your kids at home. 

In addition, there will also be guest performances by Graciela Muna, so I would not miss the event for the world if I were you. Snacks and drinks will be sold. Charges will be Kshs 200 for adults and Kshs 100 for kids under 12 years of age. The best thing is that part of the proceeds will go to a children's home to help the kids celebrate Christmas in style too.

As Leah Midamba Manager of Emerald Events Management Limited puts it, “Christmas is all about coming together in love, having fun the Jesus way and giving. We will do just that. We shall pick a children's home and donate part of the proceeds to it.”

The event will be at ICC – West (FrontRunnerz Church) on 7th December, 2013 from 2 pm. Big up to these awesome organizations for the input they have had to the event: FrontRunnerz, Safaricom Limited, Lois Events Managers and Swizz Entertainment.

ICC - West is located on Mombasa Road, near Nairobi West about 200 metres from Nyayo Stadium, next to the Nairobi West flyover.

Jim Caviezel on his role on The Passion of Christ and how it changed his life.

James Patrick "Jim" Caviezel, Jr. (born September 26, 1968) is an American film and television actor, known for portraying Jesus Christ in the 2004 Mel Gibson film, The Passion of the Christ.

In 2004, Caviezel portrayed Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. During filming, he was struck by lightning, accidentally scourged, dislocated his shoulder, and suffered pneumonia and hypothermia. Prior to filming, Gibson reportedly warned Caviezel that playing Jesus would hurt his acting career. In 2011, he admitted that good roles had been hard to come by ever since.

ZIADA 2013 TAKING THE WORD TO THE WORLD

On the Mashujaa Day weekend, October 19-20, 2013, ZiAda will celebrate the far God has brought Kenya, and ultimately, the God of all time in the ZiAda Nakuru edition.

ZiAda is a collaborative ministry channel comprising of award-winning Christian musicians Adawnage Band, Zidi The Band and Spoken Word poet, Number8. The group will mark its second year of taking the Word to the World through a series of revolutionary musical events intended to spread the love of Jesus Christ to the people of Kenya.

In 2012, the team’s inaugural events took place in Mombasa, Nyeri and culminated in Nairobi, attracting audiences of over 3,000 people. This time round, the ZiAda 2013 events will begin in the county of Nakuru with a campus edition at Kabarak University on October 19, followed by ZiAda Nakuru at the CITAM sanctuary on October 20 .

The planned Nakuru events will act as a precursor to the hugely anticipated climax to the year’s events – ZiAda Nairobi – set for December 14, 2013.

BAMBOO RE-DEDICATES HIS LIFE BACK TO CHRIST.

HipHop artist Bamboo a.k.a Simon Kimani of the group KSouth is born again. The rapper who is famed for his various club hits has made a major shift in his life by re dedicating his life back to Jesus.

In an exclusive interview with The People Newspaper Bamboo stated that "They are not rumours. I am saved. I have seen the light. It was not an easy task. It was a calling that I wholeheartedly accepted. I can openly confirm I am no longer in the secular world. You have labeled the music you are currently working on as purpose driven."

AFLEWO an acronym for Africa Let’s Worship, is an annual interdenominational All-Night Worship project. People from all walks of life congregate without any barriers, lifting one voice in worship and in reverence to God. It is an initiative of Daystar University’s Sing Africa Alumni.

The vision of the ministry is to have an AFLEWO event in all the 52 countries of Africa. So far AFLEWO hosts 3 events in Kenya that is, in Nyeri, Mombasa and Nairobi. AFLEWO also has set foot in Tanazania AFLEWO Tanzania.

The AFLEWO Event aims at involving the entire Christian community in any given AFLEWO town in a night of Christian worship and thus our participants have typically included young, middle-aged and senior-adults.
